Terms of Service
Last updated: 2026-05-20
Welcome to UaVan. These terms explain what you can expect from us and what we expect from you when you use the website, the Telegram bot, or any of our paid features. By using UaVan you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.
Who we are
UaVan is operated by Oleksandr Dashko as a sole proprietor based in British Columbia, Canada. Contact: hello@uavan.ca.
Who can use UaVan
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. To use paid features (ads, donations through our checkout), you must be at least the age of majority in your province (18 in BC) and legally able to enter a contract.
If you use UaVan on behalf of a business or organization, you confirm that you have the authority to act for that entity.
Your account
You're responsible for what happens under your account. Use a real email, keep your sign-in link or password reasonably safe, and let us know promptly if you think someone else has accessed your account.
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, posts illegal content, or harms other users. Where reasonable, we'll give you a heads-up first.
What you can post
Anything you publish on UaVan — listings, jobs, notices, fundraisers, events, club pages, questions, answers, ad creatives, photos — stays yours. By posting it, you give us permission to display, share, translate, and adapt it on the platform and in our community channels (including our Telegram groups and weekly digest) to promote and run UaVan. You can remove your content at any time.
You promise that what you post is accurate, that you have the right to post it, and that it doesn't break any law or hurt anyone else's rights (copyright, privacy, trademark, etc.).
What you can't do
Don't post content that is illegal, fraudulent, hateful, harassing, defamatory, sexually explicit, or that promotes violence.
Don't impersonate other people or businesses, post fake listings, or use the platform to scam other users.
Don't spam — no bulk posting of the same content, no link-stuffing, no offering services on listings that are clearly meant for something else.
Don't scrape the site, abuse the API, try to break security controls, overload our servers, or reverse-engineer how things work.
Don't post other people's personal information without their consent.
Don't use UaVan to sell or promote anything illegal in Canada (drugs, weapons regulated to sale, counterfeit goods, etc.).
Moderation
UaVan is a moderated community. We review submissions and may edit, hide, or remove anything that breaks these terms, looks like spam, or doesn't fit the community. We don't pre-screen everything, and we may catch things only after they've been visible for a while.
If you think a piece of content shouldn't be on UaVan, email us at hello@uavan.ca with a link and a quick explanation.
Paid features and refunds
Ads and sponsorships. When you buy an ad or sponsorship slot, you pay through Stripe. The slot starts running once we approve the creative; we may reject creatives that break these terms or the community guidelines. If we reject your ad before it runs, you get a full refund. Once an ad has started running, paid time is non-refundable except where required by law.
Job posts and other paid listings. Same idea: once a paid listing is live for any part of its term, the fee is non-refundable except where required by law.
Donations. Donations through UaVan are final — we don't issue refunds. If you donated by mistake (wrong amount, duplicate, etc.), email us within 7 days and we'll do what we can.
Pricing changes. We may change prices for new purchases at any time. We won't retroactively change the price of something you've already paid for.
Third-party listings and links
UaVan is a directory and community board. Listings about businesses, events, jobs, or fundraisers are submitted by community members. We don't endorse or guarantee them. Always do your own due diligence before paying anyone, accepting a job, donating, or sharing personal information.
Links to other websites are provided as a convenience. We don't control those sites and aren't responsible for their content or practices.
No professional advice
Information published on UaVan — including in articles in the Newcomer Guide, community Q&A, weekly digests, and AI-assisted drafts — is for general information only. It is not legal, immigration, medical, financial, or other professional advice. For anything important, talk to a qualified professional.
Service "as is"
We try to keep UaVan running smoothly, but we provide it on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We don't guarantee that the site will always be up, error-free, or that listings on it are accurate. To the maximum extent allowed by law, we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
Limit of liability
To the maximum extent allowed by law, UaVan and its operator are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, or for lost profits or lost data, arising from your use of the service. If a court finds us liable anyway, our total liability to you for all claims combined is limited to the greater of CA$100 or the amount you've paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law (for example, consumer rights you have under BC law).
Indemnification
If your use of UaVan or your content causes a legal claim against us, you agree to defend us against that claim and cover the reasonable costs (including legal fees), to the extent allowed by law. This doesn't apply where the claim is caused by our own wrongdoing.
Ending your use of UaVan
You can stop using UaVan and delete your account any time by emailing hello@uavan.ca. We can suspend or close your account if you break these terms. Terms that by their nature should survive (intellectual property, disclaimers, limits of liability, governing law) keep applying after your account ends.
Changes
We may update these terms. When we make a meaningful change, we'll update the date at the top and, where appropriate, notify users on the site or via the bot. Continued use after a change means you accept the new terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada that apply in BC. Any dispute that can't be sorted out amicably will be handled by the courts of British Columbia, and you and we agree to submit to their jurisdiction.
